BIO

Ruta Riekstina was born on 9 August 1987 in Riga (Latvia).
Happily married and proud mother of Gaetano Edgars (11 years old). She lives in Menaggio, at the magical lake of Como in the Nord of Italy. Living "la bella vita", living the beautiful life.

Ruta has been always a free spirit. She left her parents' home in Jelgava at the age of 17. Numerous hitch-hiking trips gave her a sense of freedom. In 2008, still hitchhiking, she arrived in Buccheri (Sicily, Italy) to participate in a work-camp for Medfest. Here she met her lovely husband.

Nowadays she likes to wake up early in the morning to paint with her left hand what comes from the heart. Without a sketch, just following her instinct.

Her favorite color is light - yellow. Because light is what Ruta seeks in life.

ARTISTIC EDUCATION:
2011 Degree in Art, specialized in Graphic Design - University of Latvia.

May of 2017 - Exhibition in Menaggio (Italy) dedicated to women in collaboration with L.I.L.T. (binds against tumors).

2017 - "Textile Designer by Computer" course (80 hour) at Como.

April of 2014 - Personal exhibition in Buccheri (Italy).

2000-2004 Participant Studio of artist Uldis Roga in Jelgava, Latvia. The exhibitions each year in the Jelgava Culture Palace.

2003 - Summer camp of art with the well-known artists of Latvia J. Anmanis and A. Germanis
